Round 6 OGN Tournament - AUS vs. FCF -- Posted by Archer on Monday, June 26 2006
Mr. Med captured this battle beautifully in the short piece of prose he submitted to OGN entitled, "Red Base, Blue Base - Chase, Chase, Chase!" It is also commonly known as "When Mr. Med proved he knew the alphabet." Mr. Med is a fairly prolific author for the Joint Ops publishing house, with most of his tales focusing on the postmodern, post-structuralist, agrarian, anti-establishment, communist, heuristic, pedagogic, propagandistic, and most importantly, verbose conflict between love, loss, video cards, and pink undergarments. In this tale, however, a new voice blossoms within Med's angst-ridden, existentially torn heart. His fans will be pleased that this new voice is no less verbose than the last, but it does draw on several unique and vibrant influences that are concurrently kitsch, art-deco, po-mo, and linguistically fragrant - namely Dr. Seuss.
A Nobel Prize contender, undoubtedly. I hereby present you with: "Red Base, Blue Base - Chase, Chase, Chase!"
Another gruelling
Battle, fought out in and around the subtle
Context of AS
Dafur.
Excellent defence by the
FCF crew saw the heavily armed
Garrison of AUS members
Halted time and time again.
Initially there existed a
Juxtaposition of sorts between the FCF defence and that displayed by
Kindred from previous fights, where though temporarily
Liftable, the strength of the FCF coalition could not be
Moved.
Nevertheless as the map rotated and each team played the
Opposing force the
Potential for at least as equally strong defence was
Quite amply displayed by AUS.
Repeated attempts to
Shatter the defender's hold on B were in vain.
The gregarious attackers pressed on in scattered,
Undulating attacks, but were never able to
Vanquish their foes.
Well played by both sides, even with some
X camping and nasty chopper stealing attempted.
Yoda would be proud!
Zucchini Milkshakes All Round!
FCF - 5 bases, 125 points
AUS - 5 bases, 125 points.
Round 5 OGN Tournament - AUS vs. AN -- Posted by Archer on Sunday, June 18 2006
AUS began the game as rebels, and defended B beautifully, ensuring that only a scarce number of enemy soldiers penetrated the zone. Feel free to NOT make a joke about the fact that I just used the word "penetrated." Moving on, AN nevertheless provided an interesting, and dare I say, somewhat schizophrenic, barrage of attacks on B, particularly towards the end of the first map. Unfortunately (for AN - nice blokes that they are), it was too late, and AUS emerged the victors of the first map. Despite a few hiccups before the second map (the dressing room was crowded, and KaMIKaZE-AUS- could not find a pair of heels that matched his ghillie suit - it was drama, drama, drama all around), AUS began the battle as JO well. Although our first attempt at taking B failed, it was close, and we moved quickly to take advantage of the lapse in defence that our first attack had created. I am not sure if that is what actually happened, but it sounds good so I'm sticking with it. Despite several attempts to take C, AN's defence was too good. Despite several attacks on B, our defence was too good. The rest was an action-packed stale mate (contrary to what the phrase suggests.) AUS beat AN 6 bases to 4. Good game fellas, and good luck for the rest of the Tourney.
P.S. AUS may be introducing pre-match drug and alcohol tests to prevent the recurrent in-match lunacy on TS.
P.P.S. We assume the lunacy is a result of a lack of alcohol and/or drugs...
P.P.P. ... like codeine, panadeine, nicotine, caffeine, and other family-friendly drugs with the suffix "-eine".

OGN JO:E Tourney, Round 3 vs. aV -- Posted by Archer on Tuesday, June 6 2006
Fresh off the back of a humiliating defeat, AUS pulled together and saw the biggest player turn-out for months, if not years. After struggling to get numbers during the TKOH tournament, we were all slightly bemused and confused to find out that we actually have over 17 players in our squad. We rotated as many players as we could, but some missed out on a game. Crazy times. Little nose-picking was had, and AUS took 9 bases and aV 1. Contrary to what these figures suggest, aV put in a good fight and I suspect that this spring-chicken squad will only get bigger and better with time. Good games guys. Let the good times roll!
OGN JO:E Tourney, Round 2 vs. AE -- Posted by Archer on Tuesday, June 6 2006
We lost. It was very depressing. Once again, we sealed our fate at B by prioritising fart-arsing around over actual defence. Regardless, the scenery was beautiful, and no-one was going to stop us from taking the time out to smell some trees and roll around in the fresh, African grass. Kudos to AE for a great attack and defence set up, with special mention to Sheep and Sanc as the most annoying players. Their great use of armour coupled with skilled meds was hard to beat. In the end AE took 6 bases, and AUS took 4. Please correct me if I'm wrong, maths confuses me.
Love and guns, lilired.
OGN JO:E Tournament - Round 1 vs. ASO -- Posted by Archer on Tuesday, June 6 2006
As JO, AUS failed to penetrate ASO's formidable defence at B, despite experimenting with several tactics, all of which were marked by an uncompromising, and undoubtedly daunting, lack of practice. As the rebels, AUS defended B brilliantly until they realised, 10 minutes into the defence, that they had another 30 minutes left. At this point, many AUS members went walkabout, had some inspiring dance-offs, shot at trees, and generally bemoaned the lack of action whilst picking their nose. ASO, never to be underestimated, took advantage of this lapse in defence and captured B. Catapulted into action, AUS got off their butts and retook B with 1 second to go. A communal sigh of relief echoed throughout the ranks, and AUS swore never to pick their noses during a match again. Well done boys, and a special mention to Kami for capping B, and generally annoying ASO. I'd also like to add a special mention to ASO for not killing anyone over what I imagine was a very frustrating loss of B. In the end, a draw - an unsurprising result on this map when two experienced teams go head to head. Peace out.
